As many as 214 students were awarded degrees in disciplines of Medical Sciences and Allied Medical Sciences at the Isra University convocation held at its Karachi Campus on Saturday. "Learning is a lifelong process that continues from cradle to grave," the university chancellor Prof Dr Asadullah Kazi, said emphasizing the importance of education.

Speaking at the convocation, he urged the students to be competitive and participative to extend their knowledge. "There can be no development without participation and there can be no participation without communication in this age of digital literacy," he said, adding that everything changes with time except the change itself. He said we live in an age of innovation and change where universities have a special obligation therefore they must hold fast to the best of the past and do more for the best of the future.

He said globalisation is on us, whether we like it or not, we have to get ready for this. He said it is like the river that has burst it banks. The only way for us to survive is to learn swimming or else we will drown. The earlier we learn to realise the truth of the matter, the better it is for us, he urged.

Dr Kazi advised them to make their life purposeful and prove to the society that they have worked honourably and diligently to the best of their capability in uplifting the image of the country and the alma mater. Isra Islamic Foundation president Prof Dr Ghulam Qadir Kazi, in his speech, said that the main purpose of such events is not only to confer degrees on the students but also to honour those who have performed meritoriously.
